The Japanese Garden will remain open during Phase 1 of CIP 6235 – Japanese Garden Lake Effluent Bypass.

Phase 1 is due to start June 23, and finish end of October 2025.
Using the map as reference you can see the rerouting of visitors through the Administration building with added pedestrian ramps. Effectively, visitors will not be able to stroll in a complete loop but in an “out-and-back” manner during Phase 1 of the bypass.
Visitors will be able to stroll through Administration and around the garden to the first lantern in the garden that a visitor would encounter entering the main wood gates under normal operations.
Visitors will be able to enjoy the majority of the garden during Phase 1.
We will provide more information on the hard closure that will occur in the Fall.
For Phase II, the Japanese Garden will be closed completely from October 2025 to January 2026.
