Coming Sunday, November 10, 2024, embrace Fall in the Japanese Garden as the leaves change color and the weather turns chilly! SuihoEn will have a special Sunday opening, from 9:30am – 3:30pm, with Bonsai demonstrations, Kamishibai Storytelling and Docent Tours through the Garden.
Sansui-Kai Bonsai Club will teach garden guests how to Bonsai – “the art of miniature trees.” They will also have a sale of some very unique items for the Bonsai enthusiast.
Michael Fritzen, Chairperson of the Japanese Garden Mayor’s Advisory Committee, will be on hand as our experienced Narrator to present a Kamishibai Storytelling event inside the Administrative Building of the DCT Reclamation Plant. Kamishibai literally means “paper theater” in Japanese, and utilizes illustrated paper cards, along with oration to convey a parable for all ages!
